Building Your New Pool

Meeting with a qualified expert is the first step in building the pool of your dreams. Dave Peck is Pool-Pro’s resident expert. He is extremely knowledgeable on the requirements of the Austin home builders, communities and sub-divisions and will meet with you to determine your needs and preferences and match them with the various neighborhood requirements.

Dave will review the plot plan for your home and take on-site measurements of your yard to ensure proper pool placement and sizing. Then, our engineering department will utilize a state of the art Computer Assisted Drafting (CAD) design system to ensure that your pool's specifications meet with our rigid quality control requirements. Dave will work closely with your homebuilder and your homeowner’s association to coordinate all the details necessary to make the construction process as smooth as possible. His knowledge of local builders and the community helps us avoid unnecessary problems and delays.

Planning Decisions

When you start planning your new pool and backyard paradise, there are many decisions to make. How big can it be? How deep? What shape should it be? Should we add a spa? What kind of coping? How much decking? Do we need a cover? What kind of filtering equipment do we need? Should we add a slide or diving board? By examining the considerations that follow as well as the wants and desires of your family, you will be able to decide on just the right pool to meet your family’s needs, budget and lifestyle.

Custom Design

Every pool we build is unique and designed to precisely match your family’s needs, wants and budget. For this reason, we help you identify your personal criteria for your pool, before we help you design it. Our Pool-Pro design expert, Dave Peck, will walk you through the planning process and then present you with a design drawing. And because every Pool-Pro pool is a custom pool, there are never any extra fees for designing the best type, shape, position and features of your new pool.

Type of Pool

A play pool differs from a wading pool, which differs from a lap pool, which differs from a diving pool and so on. As you consider the type of pool you want, be sure that your pool's design meets the safety requirements for its use. If a diving board just won’t work into your design, you may want to consider a rock wall with a diving platform instead.

Designing With Guests In Mind

A backyard paradise with a swimming pool as the centerpiece is an ideal entertaining environment. In-pool design features like an intimate party cove grotto behind a cascading waterfall, fountains, benches and steps to relax on or a luxurious spa all focus on your guest’s attention on the water. Landscaping, deck textures, lighting, patio furniture, umbrellas, barbecues, decorative water features and fiber-optic pool lighting let you show your decorating flair.

Pool Placement and Time of Day

At Pool-Pro we’ll help you get a feel for how to best position your new pool in your yard. As we work with you to design the type and shape of your pool, we’ll assess how it will fit into the overall layout of your yard. We’ll factor in existing architectural elements, landscape features, patios, decking and any other environmental structures. Incorporating the view (from inside the pool, from your home as well as from your neighbor’s homes), how you plan on using your pool as well as the time of day when your pool will get the maximum use are also major considerations in the design process.

Rest and Relaxation

A pool or spa may be just what the doctor ordered. There are certain situations where a tax advantage based on a health-related expense can be recognized when building a pool or spa. And when it comes to plain old relaxation, few environments can compare to soaking in the waters of your own pool in the privacy and seclusion of your own backyard. In addition to the calming waters of a pool or spa, we can design beautiful weeping rock water features, water curtains and gentle spillways to soothe you with sounds of falling water.

Exercise and Family Fun

Can you see yourself playing Marco-Polo with your kids or having races or cannonball contests? Activities that revolve around water make for great family bonds and memories. What about playing water volleyball or basketball? Are you into swimming laps for exercise? You determine the kind of activities you and your family will enjoy and we’ll help you design the right pool to enjoy them in.

Keeping Your Pool Safe

The laws and regulations for safety fencing, gating, barriers and pool covers vary by city. Because of the extreme importance of pool safety, we will make sure that your budget and design meet or exceed all barrier requirements.

Coping, Decking and the Bottom of Your Pool

One of the aspects of the design process where your creativity will really shine is in the selection of the surfaces surrounding your pool as well as those under the water. Choices vary from marble white plaster to the unique colors and textures of Pebble Tec and from the traditional look of 3M Quartz Colormagic to the elegance of custom saltillo tile. Incorporate flagstone, Trex decking, built-in seating, rolled bond beam (allowing landscape features to be situated near the pool’s edge). Whatever you imagine, we can help you design it.

Pump Room Equipment

Have you ever wondered why pools need filters? The main reason is to keep you healthy. Although there are a number of different types of filters, they all work to remove impurities and keep your pool water clean and sanitary. Pool-Pro offers mineral-based purification systems, salt-based chlorine generators, and ozone systems. We’ll provide you with options that meet your budget and your particular pool specifications.

Pool Cleaning

One of the biggest concerns people have about building their own backyard swimming pool has to do with cleaning it. They remember the days of poles and hoses – of vacuuming the bottom and skimming the top with a net. Well times have changed. Pools now clean themselves, so you don’t have to. Our exclusive in-floor cleaning system automatically takes the hassle out of maintaining your pool. There are no hoses and the chemicals are distributed automatically during the circulation process. Automatic water levelers compensate for daily evaporation by maintaining your pool’s water volume.

Landscaping

There is good and bad design when it comes to poolside landscaping. Selecting plants, shrubbery, trees and flowers that help create privacy, identify play-areas or offer protection from the wind is good design. Using vegetation that deposits leaves and other debris in the water is bad design. As you create your landscape masterpiece, we can offer make pool-appropriate, plant-life choices to help eliminate unnecessary maintenance problems.
